This award winning album series is a creative collaboration between composer Micky Torpedo and Jennifer Kuroda from the Sinnissippi Audubon Society. Jennifer chooses the species, Micky composes the music based on musical elements from the chosen bird calls. This project is meant to entertain, but also bring awareness to various threatened species, their habitat, and in general, educate and inspire more people to take action to protect the land, air, and water that we all share. The Birdsong albums are available on all streaming platforms but physical CD and Birdsong merchandise from our online store supports the mission.

 

"Birdsongs, Vol 1 - Sounds of the Mississippi Flyway" was released in 2022 and focused on species that migrate through the Midwest. All proceeds from Vol 1 sales benefit the Sinnissippi Audubon Society.

 

"Birdsongs, Vol 2 - Sounds of the Bell Bowl Prairie" was released in 2024. This album highlighted backyard bird species, specifically those that frequent a threatened gravel remnant prairie called Bell Bowl Prairie, located in Northern Illinois. All proceeds from Vol 2 sales benefit the Natural Land Institute.

 

"Birdsongs, Vol 3 - Sounds of the Great Salt Lake" released in Spring 2026, focusing on species impacted by the quickly diminishing Great Salt Lake, which projected to be completely dry by 2028 without human intervention. All proceeds from Vol 3 sales benefit the Great Salt Lake Audubon chapter. ​
